Talking to Bugs

August 14 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Evening Lecture with CT's Beardsley Zoo

Dr. Bekka Brodie “talks to bugs”! Her research focuses on understanding how insects communicate with each other and their environment, including interactions with plants and how they search for resources. Using a mix of chemistry, behavior, and physiology, Dr. Brodie unravels the signals insects use, whether it’s through smell, sight, or sound, and how these signals have evolved in different environments. Beyond just understanding bugs, she applies her findings to insect conservation, pest management, and developing techniques to monitor insect populations effectively. She is currently a Professor and the Director of the Master’s Program in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology at Columbia University. Join Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo for this wonderful evening lecture.
